How We Use Advertising and Links
Thanks for visiting LinkdHOME.com. Trust and transparency are essential when giving advice that involves a purchasing decision, as many of our articles do. As part of that I’ve created this page to answer any questions you might have about the affiliate programs that we, and many free websites use to generate revenue.
LinkdHOME is essentially a reader supported website. Operating costs are covered by some income generated by showing ads, but mostly through commissions earned by referring customers to retailers with which I have affiliate agreements. Not all products we recommend have such agreements. This doesn’t impact those recommendations. Indeed, many of my top picks don’t provide anything to us. If it’s a good product, it’s a good product, period.
When you click on a link to a product that we have an agreement with and make a purchase, the seller may pay a referral commission on that sale, but this commission does not impact the price you pay. This revenue is invested back into the site to pay for business services and procure new products for us to review. This helps to keep up with the new tech in a field that is constantly changing.
I acquire most of the hardware I use and review the same way as you, by buying it from the same places I link to. Occasionally a device maker might send a review sample, but if they do, I will disclose that as well at the top of the article.
I choose to write about products that I think are interesting for the smart home enthusiast or are otherwise worthy of exploration. The evaluations I give are based on my own use and experience in the industry and are not influenced by the commissions I receive. My focus is on giving you the best info I can along with any alternatives that might be a better fit for your situation.
Presently I am affilited with Amazon through their Associates program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon is a great fit for these products as I can find good quality buying options for almost everything in the market, and they can get it to the most people without having to hunt for alternative retailers in many cases. Even so, I also like to include alternative stores for those that don’t want to use Amazon, often manufacturer direct. In those cases, you’ll be offered a choice of stores after clicking the link in the article.
